Bafana Bafana’s 2026 World Cup Group A opponents, South Korea, slipped to a heavy 4-0 friendly loss to Ivory Coast at Stadium MK in England on Saturday, providing plenty of video evidence for Hugo Broos to pour over. The match will make fascinating viewing for Broos as he prepares to face the South Koreans in South Africa’s third pool game of the World Cup in Monterrey on June 24. The Ivorians were full value for the win thanks to goals from Crystal Palace’s Evann Guessand, Monaco winger Simon Adingra, Strasbourg striker Martial Godo and Galatasaray defender Wilfried Singo. The West African side created seven ‘big chances’ against their Asian opponents, a high number in any game, showing they were able to cut apart South Korea almost at will. Broos will be eager to get his hands on the footage and work out how they did it, with that match possibly a crucial one as South Africa look to advance from the group stages of the World Cup for the first time. Bafana also take on co-hosts Mexico in the opening game of the tournament on June 11, before a clash with either Denmark or the Czech Republic in Atlanta on June 18. Ivory Coast open their Group E campaign at the World Cup against Ecuador in Philadelphia on June 14, before taking on Germany in Toronto (June 20) and Curaçao back in Philadelphia (June 25).Bafana Bafana’s 2026 World Cup Group A opponents humbled by African side in friendly
